Trailkeep Documentation
Everything you need to manage gear, plan trips, and stay safe on any trip.
Welcome to the Trailkeep docs. Whether you are planning your first multi-day route or setting up a safety network for a month-long thru-hike, this documentation covers every feature in the platform.
What is Trailkeep?
Trailkeep is a planning and safety platform for anyone who goes deep into the outdoors for more than a day. In one place you get:
- Pack Planner — build gear lists, track weight by category, store items in a reusable gear vault.
- Trip Planner — build day-by-day itineraries, upload GPX routes, add waypoints, and co-edit in real time.
- Safety system — runs automatically, no action needed when you're overdue.
- Automatic alerts sent to emergency contacts if you miss a check-in
- Safety QR — anyone who scans it can opt in to be notified if you go overdue
- GPS location captured on each check-in
- Trip chat to keep contacts in the loop when plans change
It is built for anyone planning serious time on the trail — whether that is a long weekend or a months-long route.
