Getting Started

Pioneer plan

What Pioneer status means for early beta accounts — access, expiry, and the Pioneer badge.

Pioneer is a legacy beta tier for accounts that signed up while Trailkeep was in open beta. New accounts start on the Free plan — Pioneer is no longer assigned at signup.

If you have Pioneer access, it includes the same planning and storage as Pro (unlimited trips, gear lists, and itinerary days) plus a Pioneer badge on your shared content.

Who has Pioneer access?

Pioneer access depends on when you signed up:

  • Signed up before March 2026 — permanent Pioneer access. You will not be moved to the Free tier.
  • Signed up from March 2026 through the end of the beta period — Pioneer access until 31 December 2026. After that your account moves to the Free tier automatically. Your data is never deleted — you keep full read and write access to everything you already created. Creating new items above Free tier limits will be blocked until you upgrade to Pro.

Pioneer was a thank-you for early users during open beta. It is not available for new signups — create a free account and upgrade to Pro when you need unlimited planning.

The Pioneer badge

A blue badge-check icon displayed next to your username on every shared trip and gear list. Visible to anyone who views your shared content — including people without a Trailkeep account. The badge is kept after Pioneer expires — it marks you as an early user, not your current plan.

The Founder Card (coming later)

After 6–12 months, active Pioneer members who completed at least one trip may receive a physical Founder Card — an exclusive waterproof Safety QR card with your username and founder number, shipped with a thank-you note. This is not a product for sale.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy Pioneer status? No. Pioneer was granted automatically during open beta and is no longer available.

I signed up before March 2026 — will my Pioneer access ever expire? No. Accounts created before March 2026 have permanent Pioneer access.

I signed up during beta after March 2026 — what happens on 1 January 2027? Your account moves to the Free tier automatically. Nothing is deleted. You keep full access to everything you already created. Creating new trips or itinerary days beyond Free limits will be blocked until you upgrade to Pro. You will receive a reminder email 30 days and 7 days before expiry.

Will I keep the Safety Timer after Pioneer expires? Yes — return-by monitoring and the Check-in Timer are free on all tiers, including Free.
