Safety Timer and alerts
What to do when return-by monitoring or the Check-in Timer doesn't fire, alerts aren't received, or check-ins aren't registering.
Alert didn't send
Trip has no end date set — Return-by monitoring requires a trip end date. Go to your trip settings and set an end date. See Safety Timer for how both layers work.
Alert email in spam — Check your spam or junk folder. Add alerts@trailkeep.com to your contacts to prevent future emails being filtered.
Wrong emergency contact email — Check the email addresses saved under Dashboard → Settings → Emergency → Contacts. An alert sent to a wrong address is silently delivered there — Trailkeep has no way to detect a typo.
Alert fired but contact didn't receive it — Transactional email has a typical delivery window of a few minutes. Ask your contact to check spam. If the issue persists, email info@trailkeep.com with your username and the approximate time the alert should have arrived.
Check-in isn't working
Check-in not available — Check-in requires your trip to be Active. If still planning, tap Go on the Start tab. See Starting your trip.
Trip active but no Check in now — Open the Start tab, not Trip Planner. Check-in lives on the active trip card.
GPS: Coordinates are written when you have a live connection at check-in time. No GPS fix does not block check-in when you are online.
Offline: Check in now while offline shows Not confirmed yet — the Check-in Timer does not reset for your contacts until Trailkeep receives the check-in. Use No data? Check in by text (cell or satellite) for a server-confirmed path without app data. Extend in the Check-in Timer popover requires signal.
Timer controls reference

| Extend | Adds 2 hours to the Check-in Timer countdown. Does not reset the day count. |
| Cancel alert | Stops the current overdue alert. Does not disable the Check-in Timer for future days. |
| Reset timer | Resets the Check-in Timer countdown for today's interval from the current moment. |
Checking in resets the Check-in Timer to the configured interval automatically — you do not need to tap Reset after each check-in.
