Account and data issues
Fix login problems, missing data, import errors, and account-related questions.
Can't log in
Google sign-in account — Google accounts do not have a password in Trailkeep. Use "Sign in with Google" on the login page. Entering a Google email into the email/password form will not work.
Email/password: forgot password — Use the "Forgot password" link on the login page. A reset link is sent to the email address on your account.
Account not found — Beta accounts were created at trailkeep.com/testing. Check that you are signing in with the same email or Google account used during sign-up. If you are unsure which method you used, try both.
Data is missing after logging in
Guest mode data — Data entered in Guest mode (without an account) is stored only in your browser's local cache. It does not carry over to a new account automatically. Guest data is lost when the browser cache is cleared or when the session expires.
Data missing on a new device — Your data is tied to your account, not your device. Log in with the same account credentials on the new device — all trips and gear lists will be available once the app loads.
Data missing after clearing browser data — Clearing cookies or site data logs you out and clears the local cache. Log back in to restore access to your account data (which is stored on the server, not the browser).
Import isn't working
LighterPack import: preparing your file — Trailkeep imports from LighterPack via CSV. In LighterPack, go to your list → Export → Download CSV. Then in Trailkeep, go to Tools → Import data and upload the CSV file.
"Fields not recognized" — Check that the column headers in the CSV match LighterPack's standard export format exactly (Name, qty, weight, unit, description, category). Any extra columns or renamed headers may cause the importer to skip rows.
Item weights importing as 0 — Trailkeep uses a decimal separator based on your locale. If your LighterPack export uses a comma as the decimal separator (e.g. 1,250) and Trailkeep expects a period (1.250), weights will be misread. Open the CSV in a text editor to check the format.
For full field mapping details, see Importing data.
Pioneer badge not showing
The Pioneer badge appears on shared trips and gear lists — not inside the dashboard. If you have Pioneer status but the badge is missing from your shared pages, email info@trailkeep.com with your username. This can occur for accounts created before the Pioneer tier was fully deployed.
The badge is visible to anyone viewing your shared content — including people without a Trailkeep account. Check your shared gear list or shared trip page to confirm whether it is appearing.
Account deletion
Account deletion is permanent. Go to Dashboard → Settings → Account → Delete account. We delete all trips, gear lists, trail notes, shared links, emergency contact data, and your account. Data cannot be recovered after deletion.
